The
2016 Radio Alliance Awards were presented on July 16 by the Independent Gospel
Artist Radio Alliance (IGARA) announced Carlett Martin as the winner in four
categories: Contemporary Artist of The Year, Female Vocalist of The Year, and
in two categories for her hit song "Rejoice" - Contemporary Song of
The Year and Urban R&P Song of The Year.
Founded
in 2002 by Keithron Powell, pastor of Victory in Praise Outreach Ministries,
the Radio Alliance Awards celebrates the arts in worship. The prestigious
awards are given for excellence in service and diligence in the music ministry.
This year's award ceremonies were hosted by the Double Tree Hotel in
Jacksonville, FL. Presented in a total of 47 categories, The Gospel Rhythm
Music inspirational artist won the award for every nomination received.
Ms.
Martin began singing in early childhood, and later toured extensively as a
member of the Mercury Record group "Female." She is a talented
songwriter who has penned songs for such artists as Usher, Christina Aguilera,
Paula Abdul, Kid Rock and others. She hosted contestant David Archuleta as
vocal coach during his reign on American Idol. In 2010 Carlett returned to her
gospel roots by signing as an artist with Gospel Rhythm Music (Orchard Sony
Music) where she has maintained a stalwart career under the development of
music executive Domonique Mitchell. In addition to writing, scoring and
producing, Ms. Martin has performed and toured with Grammy, Stellar and Dove
nominees and winning artists Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Marvin Sapp, James
Fortune, Hezekiah Walker, Deitrick Haddon, Dorothy Norwood, Bishop Larry
Trotter, Isaac Carree and Canton Jones and Kendra Smith. Mr. Mitchell credits
Carlett's success to the dedication and hard work of producers, Derrick
Christopher and Pamela Johnson, promoter Ernest Cobb and the entire team
supporting their combined efforts under his executive production and advisement
Sony's Allen Johnston.
Carlett
is currently completing the follow-up album to her highly successful debut
album, "Unbreakable" containing the celebrated hit. "Thank You
Lord For My Mama," which features award winning artists Tony Terry, Dave
Tolliver and Silk's Gary "Lil G" Jenkins, Ray Charles' protégé Ellis
Hall, dubbed the "Ambassador of Soul" and reggae artist Styleon Da
Empress featured on the hit single, "Unconditional Love."
Ms.
Martin is honored to have three of her songs featured on the 2016 compilation
"Domonique Mitchell presents "Inspirational Music for the Soul
released by Sony records. A survivor of domestic abuse, Carlett's personal story
"My Life of Restoration," is scheduled for publication in a book
entitled the same this year. She is an active community philanthropist who
provides encouragement, coaching and assistance to abused women and youth
around the world.
