NATIONAL CONVENITON WILL BE GREETED WITH SOULFUL LYRICS OF THE PHILLY SOUND AND
GAMBLE AND HUFF

PA (July 22, 2016) The soulful
lyrics of “The Sound of Philadelphia” (TSOP) that has become synonymous with
Philadelphia will greet passengers and visitors alike traveling to the
Philadelphia International Airport during the DNC. The architects of TSOP,
Grammy award-winning producers and songwriters, Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff’s ballads will be heard throughout the
airport terminals.
Event organizers of the DNC
just announced the TSOP Sound will also be played on the sound systems along
the Avenue of the Arts from the Convention Center to Broad and Pine aka Gamble
Huff Walk during the Convention.

Philadelphia International Records became the birthplace, incubator and
launching pad for the Philly Soul sound aka “The Sound of Philadelphia (TSOP),”
a unique blend of R&B rhythms, sweet soul vocals, deep funk grooves,
pulsing horn charts and lush string arrangements with melodic structures

led by The O'Jays, Harold Melvin and the

Kenny Gamble & Leon Huff celebrated
50 years in the music industry in 2015. Gamble and Huff
have
written and produced 3,000 songs over
a 30-year career in the music industry
with over 50 gold and platinum records. Their 1989 Grammy award for the best R&B song, If You Don’t Know Me By Now, originally recorded by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes in 1972, was
reproducedasahitbytheBritishgroupSimplyRed.In1995, Gamble and Huff were enshrined into the National
Academy of Song writer Hall of
Fame,andin1999theywerepresentedwiththeLifetime Achievement Grammy. The Legendary duo
were also prestigiously inducted into the Rock Roll Hall of Fame in 2008.
